Dhaka University authorities have banned students' rag day celebration in the campus terming it as inhumane, cruel and unethical festival.
This decision was taken in a meeting of the academic council through the use of virtual platform in the virtual classroom of Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury in the administrative building of the university on Wednesday.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over it.
It was termed as cruel, inhumane and against university policy.
In the meeting, formation of 'Ethical Review Committee' in each faculty of the university, taking up basic research projects on the occasion of the university's centenary and golden jubilee of independence, and special emphasis on research publications.
Apart from this, the acceptance of incomplete tests and publication of the final results have also been allowed. .
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal, Deans of various faculties, departmental chairmen, directors of institutes and more than three hundred members of the academic council were attached.
