Beijing has announced retaliatory sanctions on all US diplomats stationed in mainland China and Hong Kong.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry made the announcement in a statement on Friday. Earlier, the US imposed various restrictions on Chinese diplomats.
The Chinese ministry did not specify what action would be taken against the US diplomats.
All US diplomats working at embassies and consulates in China and Hong Kong will be retaliated against.
The statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry also called on Washington to withdraw measures against Chinese diplomats.
All consular offices, including the US Embassy and Consulate General in Hong Kong, have been notified that countermeasures will be taken against US diplomats if positive action is not taken.
Bilateral relations between China and America have been severely damaged due to several steps taken by the US government, including the imposition of such restrictions against Chinese diplomats.
