An Israeli official commented that Bahrain may announce the normalization of relations with Israel.
In an interview given to Kan11 News on Wednesday, the Israeli official said that Bahrain can take such a decision by following the recent agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
The US plans to hold a signing ceremony between September 18 and 20 this year.
It is believed that Bahrain is going to join the list of countries that have strengthened relations with Israel after the United Arab Emirates. Discussions have already started. Israeli officials expect an announcement soon.
Bahrain has no diplomatic relations with Israel. But in the last few years, the rivalry between the Jewish state of Israel and the Gulf countries has decreased a lot.
Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa also held a meeting with an Israeli minister in Washington.
Al Khalifa said in an Israeli television interview seven months ago, Israel is historically part of the heritage of the entire region. So the Jews have a place among us.
