It happened on Friday morning at the Arkeshwar Swamy temple in Guttalur, Karnataka. According to police sources, they reached the spot and recovered the bloody bodies of three people.

The three priests killed were Ganesh, Prakash and Anand. All of them had severe head injuries. They were hit on the head with a boulder.

After the initial investigation, the police believe that the priests may have been killed for the purpose of robbery. Almost all the money disappeared from the donation box of the temple. Only a few coins are left.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has ordered a full investigation into the incident. He wrote on Twitter, 'The murder of three priests inside Arkeshwar temple is very shocking. A prompt investigation will be carried out to trace the person or persons who committed this act.

Appropriate legal action will be taken against them. He also announced that a financial assistance of five lakh rupees will be given to the families of the victims.
