Strong typhoon Haishen is approaching the coast. The impact of this powerful storm has brought gusty winds and heavy rain on Sunday.
The Meteorological Department has warned that apart from heavy rainfall, this powerful typhoon can uproot electricity poles and overturn vehicles on the road.
According to the forecast, the storm may hit the Amami region next to the small southern island of Kyushu on Sunday afternoon.
Typhoon Heishen was located approximately 150 kilometers away from the southeastern part of Amami Oshima Island on Sunday morning local time. At that time the speed of the storm was 252 kilometers per hour.
According to the forecast, after hitting the northern coast of Kyushun, one of the main islands of the Heishen country, it is expected to move towards the southern coast.
It has also been reported that the rampage may continue from Sunday afternoon till Monday morning.
Authorities have advised more than 200,000 residents of Kyushu to evacuate.
AFP reported on local media that many residents have gone to hotels to protect themselves rather than going to local educational institutions or shelters for fear of corona infection.
According to state broadcaster NHK, 528 flights have been canceled due to Heishen.
