A top US commander has said that the complete withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan has begun. Through this, the long war of almost 20 years is going to end in the country.
On September 11, 2001, the United States launched a military operation in Afghanistan following the terrorist attacks on the United States.
According to the peace agreement with the Taliban last year, US and international troops are supposed to leave Afghanistan from May 1. But the United States has already begun to catch up. The US began closing down small bases in Afghanistan last year.
There are about 2,500 US troops and about 7,000 NATO and allied troops in Afghanistan. These troops are also supposed to leave Afghanistan along with the US troops.
New Zealand plans to withdraw its troops in May. And Australia plans to withdraw its troops with the United States in September.
