In view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the government has announced relaxation from midnight on Wednesday (July 14). The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) will start the launch from midnight on Wednesday.
This information was informed in a circular signed by Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Director of Maritime Safety and Traffic Management Department on Tuesday (July 13).
According to the notification, half of the passengers on the launch seat and all the concerned including every passenger have been requested to wear masks and operate the boat in compliance with all hygiene rules.
In view of the current situation of coronavirus infection, the notification of the Cabinet Department has instructed to stop all types of traffic on the waterways of the country from 6 am on July 23 to midnight on August 5. In the light of that directive, all types of passenger vessels (launches, speedboats, trawlers and others) have been directed to stop movement on inland waterways from 6 am on July 23 to midnight on August 5. Violators of this instruction will be dealt with as per rules.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) public relations officer Mohammad Mizanur Rahman told reporters that the launch will be carried out according to the instructions given by the cabinet. The launch will operate from midnight on Wednesday. As such, all the restrictions imposed from midnight on July 14 (Wednesday) to July 23 at 6 am have been relaxed. Accordingly, the launch will continue till 6 am on July 23.
