The Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Abdullah Al Mamun said that those who are negligent and negligent in the fire incident in Rupganj, Narayanganj will be investigated and strict legal action will be taken against those involved. No one involved in the investigation will be exempted.
RAB DG said this to reporters after visiting the fire incident at around 4 pm on Friday.
RAB DG said, Narayanganj District Administration, Fire Service, Factory and Institution Inspection Directorate have formed separate investigation committees in this incident. They have started an investigation. After the investigation, they will submit the report stating the reasons.
On Thursday (July 8) at 6:30 in the evening, a fire broke out in the factory located in Karangop area of Rupganj upazila. In this, 18 units of fire service including Demra, Kanchan are trying to extinguish the fire. Although the fire is almost under control, the fire on the sixth floor of the factory has not yet been extinguished. Already, 52 bodies have been recovered from the factory. The death toll may rise.
On Friday afternoon, the fire service recovered 49 bodies. As a result, the death of 52 people has been confirmed in this incident, Director of Fire Service (Operation) Lt. Col. Zillur Rahman said.
Almost all of the bodies recovered on Friday were so charred that relatives could not identify them. So these dead bodies have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for DNA test. The bodies will be identified and handed over to the relatives through DNA tests.
After the fire was initially brought under control, 49 dead bodies were recovered from the ground floor to the fourth floor. We will re-search the entire building after the fifth and sixth floor fire is fully under control.
It is known that in this factory, apart from Cezanne juice, noodles, lachi semai, chocolate, lachi, cake biscuits and various other products were made and packaged. Apart from this, every floor of the six-storey building was stocked with flammable materials and a large amount of chemicals.
