Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government has taken well-planned steps in the implementation of SDGs. Constitution and election manifesto there too but we have announced various steps with the development of the country in mind.
And we have taken effective steps since forming the government to do so. So whatever natural calamity comes, the people of Bangladesh are able to deal with it.
He said this while unveiling a memorandum ahead of the National Economic Council Executive Committee (ECNEC) meeting through video conferencing from Ganabhaban on Tuesday morning.
Bangladesh was also a pioneer in the implementation of MDG (Millennium Development Goals). It has shown considerable efficiency and we are moving in that direction in terms of SDGs as well. It is possible to achieve this because we have a well-planned, specific vision and we are proceeding in that planned manner.
As a result of various actions of the government, today we are in one of the three countries in the world to implement the SDGs. It is especially for us because of the coronavirus, when the economy around the world is at a standstill, Bangladesh is working on the one hand to fight the coronavirus, protect people, and on the other hand, keep the economic development moving.
This achievement was possible because everyone risked their lives and worked efficiently. But we have a long way to go.
Highlighting Bangladesh's ability to deal with natural disasters, Sheikh Hasina said that no matter how many storms, floods and cyclones come, the people of Bangladesh can deal with them. Our great leader Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has taught us this.
