Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given a financial donation of Tk 122 crore 2 lakh 15 thousand for all mosques of the country under the purview of the Islamic Foundation in the ongoing situation caused by the corona virus. 5000 taka will be given to 2 lakh 44 thousand 43 mosques located at the city corporation/municipal area and union level of each district.
This money allocation was informed in a letter signed by Islamic Foundation (Ifa) Director General Anis Mahmud on Wednesday.
According to the letter, the worshipers are not able to donate normally in the mosques of the country due to various reasons including hygiene and social distancing due to the global spread of coronavirus. Due to the decrease in donations and other help, the income of the mosque has decreased. As a result, it has become difficult to meet the daily expenses of the mosque.
The letter also states that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given approval to give grants at the rate of five thousand taka in favor of each mosque to eliminate the financial difficulties of mosques in the current situation. In view of this, the donation in favor of each mosque was sent to the bank of the concerned department, district office of the Islamic Foundation through electronic fund transfer. Donation checks should be distributed in coordination with the concerned District Commissioner, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Director/Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation. Ensure disbursement of grant money/cheques by taking proper acknowledgment in favor of the listed mosques and keep the receipts along with other documents properly in the Division/District Office of Islamic Foundation for audit.
If the information of any real mosque is omitted in the approved list, an application should be made to the Director General Islamic Foundation for the additional allocation required to be included in the list along with the certification by the concerned Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
