Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has urged the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and the two city corporations to be strict in banning easybikes and battery-powered rickshaws in Dhaka city.
The minister made such a call in the speech of the chairman of the board meeting of Dhaka Traffic Coordination Authority (DTCA) on Tuesday. He joined the meeting virtually from his official residence.
Obaidul Quader urged to finalize the project proposal by negotiating with the two city corporations of Dhaka through DTCA and said that the issue of receiving traffic clearance for multi-storied buildings given by DTCA should be settled by discussing with Rajuk under the legal regulations. Roads cannot be excavated in Dhaka City Corporation area without coordination.
The mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation joined the board meeting of DTCA virtually at this time. Atiqul Islam, South Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, Narayanganj City Mayor Selina Hayat IV, Member of Parliament Nazrul Islam Babu, Sagufta Yasmin Emily, DTCA Executive Director Khandaker Rakibur Rahman and various ministries secretaries and DMP commissioners.
