Pointing out the importance of having a strong opposition party for democracy, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that due to the lack of efficient leadership, the opposition parties have failed to gain the trust of the people.
Now the opposition says that the existing parties have not been able to gain the trust and confidence of the people as they do not have the leadership. But democracy needs a strong opposition party. There is no doubt about it.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while inaugurating a website named Bangabandhu and publishing a digital compilation of the Father of the Nation's speeches as the chief guest.
At 11:30, he inaugurated the 'Mujib Year Activities' Mujib Year website 2020-21 and the digital compilation of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's audio speech organized by the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.
The Prime Minister said that Parliament has a role in continuing the democratic process in our country. Because Parliament is a place where people's representatives come and have the opportunity to speak for the people.
Pointing out that his party and himself have the experience of what kind of problems they had to face when they were in the opposition party in the Parliament, the Prime Minister said, that's why we don't create such problems anymore.
Speaker Dr. Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury and Member of Parliament Nabil Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton was present on the stage. The Prime Minister said that Bangladesh Awami League was built by the father of the nation and when he was elected as the general secretary of this party, he left the ministry to organize the party.
The Prime Minister said that the father of the nation had a cherished dream for a long time, one day to give independence to these Bengalis as a nation and make them an independent state. He was doing it.
But the misfortune of the nation, he was killed by his family. He said that his government and party are working with the aim of bringing smiles to the faces of Bengalis by completing the unfinished work of the Father of the Nation and bringing them economic liberation.
