Dhaka, June 12:– Newly appointed Chief of Air Force Air Vice Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, BUP, NSWC, FAWC, PSC took charge as Chief of Bangladesh Air Force on Saturday (12-06-2021) afternoon. He replaces outgoing Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, NDU, PSC.
On this occasion, the ceremony of acceptance/handover of responsibility was completed at Air Force Headquarters. Meanwhile, the newly appointed Chief of Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, officially took over the responsibility of Chief of Bangladesh Air Force from the outgoing Chief of Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat. Principal Staff Officer of Biman Sadar along with senior officials were present on the occasion.
Earlier in the morning, outgoing Air Force Chief Masihuzzaman Serniabat paid his respects by visiting the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum and offering a book to the portrait of the Father of the Nation. After laying wreaths, the outgoing Air Force Chief stood in silence for a moment in front of the portrait and signed the Visitation Book as part of a tribute to Bangabandhu. He also paid tribute to the memory of the members of the armed forces who were martyred in the great independence war of 1971 by placing wreaths at Shikha Anirban. He also signed the visitors book there.
A smart contingent of the Air Force gave him a guard of honor before leaving the air base. He inspected the guard and received the salute. Also, he planted a tree sapling in the premises of Air Force Headquarters. Finally, the departing airman was bid farewell by his colleagues as he left the air base.
