A seven-day strict lockdown has started across the country from today to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Police, RAB, BGB and army members are in the field to implement this lockdown which started from 6 am on Thursday (July 01). Apart from a couple of private cars, ambulances, rickshaws, there is no transport on the road. The army was seen patrolling the empty streets with cars.
In order to implement the lockdown, the required number of troops have been deployed to ensure effective field patrolling under the 'Army in Aid to Civil Power' provision.
On Thursday morning, it can be seen on the ground that most of the areas of the capital are deserted.
Police have set up checkpoints at every intersection. Army vehicles were seen patrolling the streets. Some people are seen here and there, but the members of the law and order forces are telling them to go home. They are even preventing the movement of rickshaws.
Since morning in Mirpur area of the capital, there are check posts of law and order forces. Traffic is being stopped at these checkpoints. The members of the law and order forces want to know why they came out, where they are going. The transports are released from the check post only if they can provide specific reasons and evidence.
Sadek, a rickshaw driver of Abdullahpur area, said, I have been able to drive rickshaws for a long time. There are no people in Basta today. How will I run the family? The streets are empty. There are no passengers. How will the next days go?
On Wednesday (June 30), the government issued a notification imposing strict restrictions and prohibitions. In the notification issued by the Cabinet Department, all public and private offices, vehicles and shops have been closed. During this time, if you go out without urgent need, you will face severe punishment, it has been informed by the government.
