Bengali Life Fair, Knowledge Fair, Amar Ekushe Book Fair is starting. This biggest cultural event of the country is going to be inaugurated on Thursday after almost a month and a half delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Amar Ekushe Book Fair through video conference from Gana Bhavan at 3 pm. As always, the opening ceremony will be held at the Bangla Academy premises.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will be the special guest in the program presided over by Academy President Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan.
Culture Secretary. Badrul Arefin will deliver the welcome address and Bangla Academy Director General Kavi Habibullah Siraji will deliver the welcome address.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will unveil the English translation of Bangabandhu's 'Amar Deha Nayachin' published by Bangla Academy at the inauguration ceremony.
Bangla Academy Literary Award 2020 will also be given in the event.
After the official inauguration, the fair premises will be opened for visitors at 5 pm.
Book fair organizing committee member secretary. Jalal Feroze said last night, many people are concerned about organizing the fair. All preparations for the fair have been completed.
All necessary preparations have been made to protect everyone's health, to deal with storms and rains, and safety in the Corona situation. Author-publisher-reader-visitors expect responsible behavior towards everyone.
No one will be allowed to enter the fair without wearing a mask. There will be hand washing and hand sanitizer facilities at the entrance of the fair. Various teams will also work to maintain hygiene. This time Suhrawardy Udyan section will have three entrances and three exits.
A new entrance has been made at the eastern end of the park through the Institute of Engineers. There will be archways for safety. More than three hundred closed circuit cameras have been arranged in the area.
The book fair will be held in Bangla Academy premises and historical Suhrawardy Udyan in an area of about 1.5 lakh square feet.
154 units have been allocated to 107 institutions in the academy premises and 680 units to 433 institutions in the Suhrawardy Udyan section making a total of 834 units to 540 institutions.
The fair will have 33 pavilions.
Bangla Academy authorities have already informed that if the rate of corona infection increases, strict decisions may be taken.
