Mentioning the huge role of Halda in fish production, the minister said that the highest fish fry in the history has been produced in Halda this year. We have overcome many obstacles in fish fry production in Halda.
We have taken measures to ensure that industrial waste is not released here, that no one can catch mother fish in dishonest ways during the fishing season, and that the reproduction of fish in Halda is not disturbed in any way, so that mother fish can lay eggs without any disturbance.
We have gone to the field to see whether this program is going on properly or not. Our respective agencies including the public representatives, local administration, law and order enforcement forces are all working together. For this the past tradition of Halda has already returned. We will go to a better position.
In response to a question from the journalists, the minister said that the government is giving VGF as an incentive to fishermen all over the country so that they do not have any food problems during the period when fishing is stopped.
If anyone is left out in Halda area they will definitely be given that opportunity by updating their list. The number of fish fry found in Halda this year is a huge success. Common people including public representatives of this region share in this success to a large extent.
The minister also said that Sheikh Hasina is working hard to save the entire country from the horrors of Covid-19. During this time not a single person died of starvation.
We have to advance fisheries. As economic stagnation is happening all over the world, fisheries will be our main resource to overcome this stagnation. For this, Halda river is very important for us as a breeding ground for fish.
We will gradually bring all the fishermen who have refrained from fishing under the food assistance programme. So that a fisherman does not suffer from lack of food. It is an ongoing process.
