Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Health, Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, said that more than 50 percent of the corona patients under treatment in hospitals in different parts of the country are from villages. These patients are coming to the hospital after the severity of the disease is very high.
He said these things to the journalists present after the meeting held at the Department of Health on Monday morning.
He said, yesterday Sunday (July 4) I spoke with the officials and doctors of 45 upazila health complexes for more than three hours.
They said, most of the patients are from rural areas. Patients are coming to the hospital long after the disease has worsened.
Now is the monsoon season. Many people assume that they are infected with the coronavirus but have a common cold, fever or cough. Not getting tested or taking doctor's advice. We have suggested village to village miking of field level health workers. I have asked to keep track of patients from house to house.
It has been decided to lower the minimum age limit for registration for coronavirus vaccination to 35 years, said the Department of Health. Director General Dr. Monday. He said, it was decided on Sunday, registration will start again in three-four days.
The registration period for vaccination was up to 40 years. A decision has been made to bring it down to 35 years. Those who register earlier will get the vaccine first. That's how we fixed it.
Apart from this, university students and some workers in risky jobs are also being kept on the vaccination list, said the director general of the health department.
