The ban on all international and domestic flights of Bangladesh Biman has been extended till April 14.
Earlier this ban was till March 31. However, even after March 31, all flights remained unannounced.
Managing Director of Bangladesh Biman Md. Mokabbir Hossain told this information to the media and said that all activities of Bangladesh Biman will be closed till April 14th.
Bangladesh Biman's superiors are unable to comment on whether it can be extended or not. They are looking at the government in this regard. "We are working according to the type of decision the government will take. Now, we will take the decision for sure from the government."
Earlier, on March 21, Bangladesh Biman stopped air traffic with 10 countries for 10 days. The ban was till March 31.
Shahjalal International Airport Director Group Captain SM Touhidul Ahsan told the media, "Now there is only communication with China. Air traffic from Bangladesh to the rest of the countries will be suspended till April 7."
However, this restriction will increase. But the official of the airport is not able to say till what date it will be.
Earlier on March 21, Mr. Tauhidul Ahsan said, "We have seen that more people are coming from some countries due to the coronavirus. Due to this reason, the flights of these routes have been stopped. No flight will be able to come to Bangladesh from these countries during this period”.
He said, these countries are Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore and India. No aircraft coming from these countries will be allowed to land in Bangladesh.
As a result, international air traffic with Bangladesh was practically stopped. Because the world's major airlines fly through these countries.
