Date of hearing of GATCO corruption case against Khaleda Zia has been postponed

The date of hearing on the framing of charges in the GATCO corruption case filed against Khaleda Zia has been postponed.

The court fixed the next date of hearing on October 13.

Acting Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the newly constructed temporary Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 in the Keraniganj prison building on Wednesday granted the defendant's application and fixed the date.

The case was scheduled for a charge-sheet hearing. But Khaleda Zia, the main accused in the case, could not appear in court due to illness.

Therefore, on behalf of Khaleda Zia, her lawyer Masood Ahmed Talukder applied to postpone the hearing of the complaint. At the end of the hearing, the court granted the application for time and fixed the date after filing the complaint.

On September 2, 2007, ACC Deputy Director Golam Shahriar Chowdhury filed the GATCO corruption case against 13 people including Khaleda Zia at Tejgaon police station in the capital.

After the investigation on May 13, 2008, ACC Deputy Director Zahirul Huda filed a charge sheet against 24 people including Khaleda Zia. Currently, the number of accused in this case is 17 people. Seven accused have died.
