Law Minister Anisul Haque said that the President or the Prime Minister can forgive Khaleda Zia and release her if she pleads for forgiveness.
The law minister said this in his speech after the speech of the parliamentarians on the proposal of retrenchment on the demand for approval in the law ministry sector in the proposed budget for the financial year 2021-22 proposed in the national parliament today on Wednesday (June 30). Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharimin Chowdhury presided over the session.
There are rumors that Khaleda Zia will be taken abroad for treatment. But when we allowed him to receive treatment from home and country, they accepted and implemented it. That is, Khaleda took Zia home from jail.
Their plea was accepted under Section 401 of the Penal Code. What else can be done after an application is accepted? Application under section 401 has been accepted now nothing is possible. If they can show that this is possible in law then I will leave the legal profession.
They are talking about Khaleda Zia's treatment. Khaleda Zia was ill. He was treated at Evercare Hospital and returned home. We did not stop the treatment. Now that they are talking about the release of Khaleda Zia, only the law-court can release a convicted person. And the President can release the sentence by waiving it.
If an application is made to the President. And the Prime Minister can give. However, the president or the prime minister has to plead guilty. The president or the prime minister can forgive and release if he pleads guilty and asks for pardon.
