Feeling empty after losing Maudud: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Barrister Maudud Ahmad was not only a politician, he was a legend.

He was involved in many changes during his long life. In every change his main aim was to establish a democratic society and state.

Mirza Fakhrul said these things in a short speech before the funeral of Barrister Maudood Ahmed in the second Namaz in front of the party office in Nayapaltan of the capital on Friday (March 19) around 11:00 am.

The first funeral was held at the Supreme Court premises at 10:20 am. Earlier, at 9 am, the body was taken from Ever Care Hospital's freezer to Jatiya Shaheed Minar premises. An hour is kept there for all levels of public to pay their respects.

Maudood Ahmed's body will be taken by helicopter from Nayapaltan to his birthplace Noakhali. After Jumma Namaz at 2:30 PM, Namaz and Janaza will be held at Kabirhat Degree College Ground in Noakhali.

At 4:00 p.m., a funeral prayer will be held at Basurhat Companyganj Govt. Mujib University ground.

Later at 5:30 pm in front of the deceased's own residence (Manikpur Companyganj) after the funeral prayer, burial will be completed in the family cemetery next to the parents' graves.

It should be noted that Maudud Ahmad breathed his last at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital at 6:30 PM Bangladesh time on Tuesday (March 16). He was 81 years old at the time of his death.
