Awami League nominated Aga Khan Mintu, Habibur Rahman and Abul Hasem Khan in the by-elections of Dhaka-14, Sylhet-3 and Comilla-5 constituencies respectively. Their nominations were given at the Awami League Parliamentary Board meeting at Ganobhaban on Saturday (June 12).
Awami League Parliamentary Board President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.
According to the decision of the meeting, the nomination of Awami League was given to Agakhan Mintu in Dhaka-14 seat, Habibur Rahman in Sylhet-3 seat and Abul Hashem Khan in Comilla-5 seat in the by-election of 3 seats of Jatiya Sangsad.
94 people bought nomination form of Awami League in these three constituencies to get tickets. Maximum 35 nomination forms were sold for Comilla-5 seat.
34 people collected nomination form for Dhaka-14 seat. 25 nomination forms were sold for Sylhet-3 seat.
The by-election for the three constituencies will be held on July 14 (Wednesday). The last day to submit nomination papers for these constituencies is June 15 (Tuesday). Nomination papers will be selected on June 17 (Thursday). And the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers is June 23 (Wednesday). Allotment of symbols will be on June 24 (Thursday).
Sylhet-3 Constituency Member of Parliament and District Awami League Vice-President Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury Kois died due to corona infection, the seat became vacant. He died on March 11 at United Hospital in the capital.
Former Law Minister, Awami League Presidium Member and Member of Parliament for Comilla-5 Constituency Abdul Matin Khosru died on April 14 while undergoing treatment at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital. Comilla-5 seat became vacant.
All three of them were members of parliament of the ruling Awami League.
