Dinajpur's Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam has no need to be sent abroad at the moment, Director General of the Department of Health said Professor Dr. Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam.
He said this to reporters after meeting UNO Wahida, who is undergoing treatment in ICU at the National Institute of Neuroscience Hospital in the capital on Saturday morning.
Wahida Khanam's health is improving but she is being cautiously kept under observation.
Mohammad Zahid Hossain, chief neurosurgeon of the neuro trauma department of the National Institute of Neuroscience Hospital and head of the medical board, said that Wahida Khanam's operation was successfully completed, but there is a risk of infection, so the doctors of the board have kept her under observation.
Wahida Khanum's paralyzed right side has not improved yet. It is as it was.
As part of his brain has been damaged, he has suffered some brain damage due to broken bones and it has not improved yet. It is difficult to say how long it will take or how much progress will be made in this case. But we hope it will improve.
It is to be noted that miscreants broke the ventilator of UNO Wahida's official residence and attacked Wahida and her father on Wednesday night (02 September).
Later, UNO was rescued with serious injuries and first admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RAMEC).
Then he was brought to Dhaka by helicopter for better treatment as his condition was critical. He is currently undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Neurosciences Hospital in the capital.
