Two chairman candidates got equal votes in Kaliganj

Lalmonirhat representative: The results of the chairman post election in Chandrapur Union Parishad of Kaliganj Upazila of the district have been postponed. Awami League nominated candidate Mahabubur Rahman and independent candidate Jahangir Alam got equal number of votes so the returning officer did not announce the result.

The results of the upazila's seven union council elections were announced on Sunday night. Three candidates nominated by Awami League were elected privately with the boat symbol, but the result of the remaining one was not announced.

According to election office sources, Awami League nominated candidate Mahabubur Rahman and independent candidate Jahangir Alam both got nine thousand 840 votes in Chandrapur Union Parishad election.
According to the law, re-election will be held between the two candidates who got equal votes, said the District Election Officer. Or the next decision will be made after talking to the two candidates.

Abdul Razzak, Returning Officer (Chandrapur-Goral) and Upazila Social Service Officer Abdul Razzak said that the results of the two candidates were not announced as they got equal number of votes. According to the election law, a re-judgment vote will be held on those two.
