Deaths have increased again in the corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College (Ramek) Hospital. 18 people have died in the last 24 hours. They died between 9 am on Sunday (04 July) and 9 am on Monday (05 July) while undergoing treatment.
Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani, director of Ramek Hospital, confirmed the matter on Monday (July 5) morning.
He said, out of 18 people who died in the last 24 hours, five died of corona and 12 died of symptoms. One died of other physical complications despite being free of corona. Among them, there are 12 men and six women. Most of the dead were between 35-65 years of age.
Ramek director also said, 'Among the dead in the last 24 hours, there are eight from Rajshahi, one from Chapainawabganj, three from Natore, four from Naogaon and one from Pabna and one from Kushtia. Among them, four people from Rajshahi and one from Natore died due to corona. Four from Rajshahi, one from Chapainawabganj, two from Natore, four from Naogaon, one from Pabna and one from Kushtia. Instructions have been given to bury the dead in accordance with hygiene rules.
Regarding the admission of patients and infection, he said, 'In the last 24 hours, 69 people have been newly admitted to Ramek. 48 people have recovered and returned home. Ramek has 210 patients with corona and 285 with suspected and symptomatic patients. In the last 24 hours, 495 patients were admitted against 405 beds in Ramek.
Regarding the corona test, the director said, 'In the last 24 hours, 282 samples have been tested on the PCR machine of Ramek Hospital and 81 people have tested positive for corona. In the PCR machine of the medical college, 372 samples were tested and 137 people reported positive for corona.
A total of 654 samples were tested in two labs. In this, 218 people got corona positive results. According to the test, the detection rate is 34.09 percent.
