In the last 24 hours, 18 more people have died in the corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College (Ramek) Hospital. They died between 9 am on Wednesday (July 7) and 9 am on Thursday (July 8).
Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani, director of Ramek Hospital, confirmed the matter on Thursday (July 8) morning. The previous day 20 people died in this hospital.
Shamim Yazdani said that among the dead, eight people died due to corona and nine people died due to symptoms. Besides, one person died even after being corona negative. Among the dead, 14 were men and four were women.
Eight of them are over 61 years old. Besides, there are five people between 51 and 60 years, three between 31 and 40 years and two between 41 and 50 years.
Nine of the 18 people who died in Ramek Hospital in the last 24 hours are from Rajshahi district. Apart from this, there are three from Naogaon, two from Natore, two from Chapainawabganj and one each from Pabna and Kushtia.
Regarding the admission and infection of patients with corona and symptoms, the director of Ramek Hospital said that 70 people were newly admitted to Ramek in the last 24 hours. 48 people have recovered and returned home. In Ramek, 221 people are admitted with corona and 202 people with symptoms. Currently, 485 patients are admitted in Ramek Hospital against 454 Corona dedicated beds.
Hospital director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani said about the detection of corona virus, 28 positive reports have been received from 188 samples tested in the PCR machine of Ramek Hospital in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, in the PCR machine of the medical college, out of 376 samples, 113 people came corona positive.
A total of 564 samples were tested in two labs. 141 people have been identified as corona positive. Considering the tests, the infection rate in Rajshahi has increased from 21.92 percent to 26.57 percent. And in Chapainawabganj, the detection rate of corona has increased from 15.65 percent to 20 percent.
A special 'lockdown' has been going on in Rajshahi since June 11 to prevent the infection of delta variant of Corona. A total of 138 people died in Ramek Hospital in these seven days.
Besides, 405 people died last June. Among them, there were 189 corona positive patients. Others died while undergoing treatment in hospital with corona symptoms.
