Ishaat Zaman Munna, Lalmonirhat Representative: Goral Police Investigation Center has arrested 6 drug dealers along with 170 bottles of Phencidil and 9 kg of ganja in Sevakdas village of Balairhat area of Goral Union of Kaliganj district. In this regard, a case has been filed against 8 people under the Narcotics Control Act as the police.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kaliganj police station Golam Rasool has confirmed that the arrested drug dealers will be sent to court after noon on Thursday (April 7). 6 drug dealers were arrested during the operation. The arrested are- Maidul (24) son of Sahir Ali of Sevakdas village in Goral Union of the upazila, Rabiul Islam (22) son of Hamidul Islam of the same area, Sanjit Roy (20) son of Jetendranath, Hasan Ali (29) son of Zainal Abedin, Abdus Samad (son of deceased Sekendar Ali). 21) and Shafiqul Islam (40).
According to local and police sources, a smart team of the investigation center conducted an arrest warrant and a special anti-narcotics operation in Goral Union area of Kaliganj police station in the district. During the raid, the team members stationed in Balairhat Bazar area raided the house of drug dealer Maidul Islam on the basis of secret information. At that time, illegal drug phensidyl and ganja were being bought and sold in the courtyard of the house.
Later, the police chased and arrested 6 drug dealers with 170 bottles of phensidyl and 9 kg of ganja. Two more drug dealers were able to escape after realizing the presence of the police. A case has been filed in Kaliganj Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act against the police as plaintiffs in this incident.
Kaliganj police station officer in-charge (OC) Golam Rasool said about the arrest and recovery of drugs in the anti-narcotics operation, after a case was registered in the police station, the arrested persons were sent to jail through the court. He also expressed hope that this anti-drug operation of the police will continue in the future. On the other hand, OC ATM Golam Rasul, officer in charge of Kaliganj police station, was selected as the best officer in charge of the district in March for the 4th consecutive time.
