More than half a hundred bodies have been recovered from inside the factory after a terrible fire in Hashem Foods and Beverage Company's Sejan Juice factory in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
On Friday (July 9) at noon, the Fire Service and Civil Defense Narayanganj office informed this information. The recovered body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem, sources said.
Sources also said that since the start of the fire, the personnel of 11 units of the fire service are continuing to control the fire. By the time of writing this report at 2 pm today, they have managed to reach the fourth floor of the factory building. The fire is still burning on the upper two floors.
Rescue work is still going on. They cannot say the final number right now. After the rescue, more than half a hundred bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital Morgue in several ambulances.
A fire broke out at Sejan Juice Factory located in Bhulta Karngop area along the Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 5:30 pm on Thursday. At night, fire service personnel recovered the bodies of three workers. It is reported that more than half a hundred workers were injured in the fire, including six with burns. 12 workers trapped on the roof of the building were rescued unharmed.
The fire caused huge damage to the factory's raw materials, manufactured products, valuables. On receiving the information, the personnel of 11 units of Kanchan, Purbachal, Demra, Araihazar, Adamji Fire Service joined the work of controlling the fire. The employees and officials of the factory were trapped in the different floors of the building in the fire. Some were injured by jumping.
According to local sources, 10 of the injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. And 16 people were admitted to the US-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
