Dhaka North City Corporation DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said that due to the sincere efforts of all, it has been possible to keep the city dwellers free from the suffering of waterlogging despite the heavy rains.
DNCC Mayor said this while inquiring about the overall condition of various areas of Dhaka North City Corporation due to heavy rains throughout the day on Tuesday.
He said that in other years, the roads and roads in different areas of DNCC would have been submerged with little rain, and the residents of the city had to suffer a lot due to waterlogging. But this time even with the record amount of rain, the city dwellers do not have to suffer from the problem of waterlogging.
Atiqul Islam said that although there was 25 mm of rain today, Navy Headquarters Main Road, Golf Height Main Road, Setu Bhavan Main Road, Nakhal Para, Kala Chandpur, Baridhara, Begum Rokeya Sarani, Kachukshet, Ansar Camp-Darus Salam Road, Moghbazar, Bepari. Almost all areas of DNCC including Para, Uttara Sector 4 were free of waterlogging.
Because he believes in words and not deeds, even though a record 85 mm rain fell in Dhaka for a long time on June 1, it was possible to free the city dwellers from the waterlogging in the fastest time.
He said that during the inspection of the roads in Mirpur Kazipara and Sheorapara areas on June 16, the Metrorail authorities were given the necessary directions for regular cleaning of the roads and drains adjacent to the Metrorail, as well as for proper work, even after the rains throughout the day today, the residents of the concerned areas did not have to suffer from waterlogging.
Dhaka North City Corporation is working on short, medium and long term plans to reduce waterlogging and control pollution in the city. Rescue and cleaning of the canal has already started in various places, it will continue with the help of people.
DNCC Mayor said, everyone should be responsible for building a healthy, beautiful city, work sincerely for public welfare from their respective positions.
He also said that with the joint efforts of all, Dhaka should be freed from encroachment, pollution and evil people and transformed into a healthy, active and modern Dhaka that is habitable for all.
