A councilor shall not hold councilorship if canal possession or any offense is proved against him: Atiq

Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has warned that if a councilor is found guilty of occupying a canal or any crime, he will not have councilorship. Atiqul Islam

He said, if the investigation proves that a councilor has taken possession, the councilorship of that councilor will be cancelled. Even if there is evidence of involvement in possession, councilorship will not exist.

The mayor said this while inaugurating the newly excavated canal after eviction of illegal structures on Khidirkhaal in Sluich Gate area of Uttara Sector 11 of the capital at 11:30 on Friday.

The mayor also said that on March 16, when I came to this place in Uttara Sector 11, I noticed that there are Khidir canals on the right and left side of the sluice gate area, but there is no connectivity in the middle. A structure has been constructed completely illegally by filling it.

They are very strong. I broke it last Tuesday with local MPs, ward councillors, local people and Awami League leaders and workers. Here the normal speed of the canal was disrupted.

We have to change our mentality otherwise I will have to carry out this eviction drive with people's help.

By giving instructions to Rajuk and other government agencies, the mayor said, change your mentality.

Just allotment of plots will not do, there is no dumping yard in Dhaka city. They are allotting one plot after another but there is no dumping yard. Allotment on canals – need to think about it.

The canal should be kept open. Do not fill the canal. I would like to request all government agencies to see CS map, RS map, metropolitan survey before allowing anything and then think about allotment of space or not.

You will rush and the people will suffer - it is very difficult. You will come and see the surface and then think about where to allocate the plot.

The mayor tells everyone present, see how a road has narrowed. I wonder how this canal was closed. I have asked our councilor and chief property officer to determine the width of the end of this canal by looking at the map.

If necessary, the wall of the nearby hospital should also be broken. The hospital director agreed. The director of the hospital applauded.

Told me, of course, Mr. Mayor, I will leave as much space as I have here. He thanked the local Awami League leaders and activists for the fact that we were able to do this rescue work with everyone's cooperation.

Incidentally, during the inspection of the coordinated anti-mosquito operation on Tuesday, illegal structures in the Khidir Canal area were cleared and the canal was excavated and the flow returned. Even three days ago, this canal was not owned.

A company built a sales office on the canal and occupied it. The mayor made a new canal by tearing it down.

During the inauguration of the newly excavated canal, the chief executive officer of DNCC said. Salim Reza, chief property officer. Mozammel Haque, Local 51 Ward Councilor Mohammad Sharifur Rahman, Reserved Constituency Councilor Zakia Sultana and others were present.

Earlier, DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam inaugurated the cleanliness campaign organized by BD Clean at Mohammadpur Eidgah ground at 9:30 am.

1 thousand 800 volunteers of BD Clean are cleaning the garbage in ward number 31 area of DNCC throughout the day. While inaugurating the cleanliness drive, he said that blaming the authorities for dumping the waste outside will not work.

Atiqul Islam said, we keep our house clean and throw the dirt outside. After opening the shop in the morning, all the garbage is thrown into the drain of the corporation.

But why are we doing them? For whom? You throw garbage outside, and BD Clean cleans the streets, it can't happen.

Referring to the garbage thrown between two buildings in various residential areas of Mohammadpur, he said, "Everyone throws garbage in the garbage passage."

The city corporation has cleared the mess several times. Still the garbage is dumped. They will litter, there will be mosquitoes, and the townspeople will abuse the city corporation; It can't be.

On the occasion of Mujib Barsha, the Mayor announced that DNCC will gift a tree sapling with every birth certificate. He said, if the parents plant one tree in the name of each child, then there will be no shortage of oxygen in Dhaka city.

In the opening ceremony of the cleaning program of BD Clean, Member of Parliament Sadek Khan, Member of Parliament for reserved seat Shirin Ahmed, Nahid Izahar Khan, Chief Executive Officer of DNCC. Salim Reza, Ward No. 31 Councilor Shafiqul Islam Sentu and others were present.
