In a ward of the South City Corporation, there have been allegations of sudden doubling of garbage removal bills from houses.
In the current situation of Corona, the concerned local people think that increasing the bill in this way is inconsiderate. According to the complaint of the victims, according to the decision of the city corporation, various private organizations are responsible for removing garbage from the houses.
Earlier, a bill of 100 taka was charged per house or flat, but it has been suddenly increased to 200 taka since last July.
It has been reported that these additional bills are being collected in various areas including Zainab Road, Bakshibazar, Board Office, Khaje Dewan of Ward No. 27 of South City.
Local residents Tanya and Sujan said that even if the social service people do not collect the garbage properly, they forcefully collect the bill. They said that this bill has been fixed by the city corporation.
They also threatened that the garbage will not be collected if additional money is not paid. Often no one comes to pick up the garbage for a few days in a row, but on certain dates of the month they show up to collect the bill.
Chief Executive Officer of Dhaka South City Corporation Shah Md. Imdadul Haque told Kal Kantha, 'We have not given them any such permission.
I have approved to charge maximum 100 rupees for removal of garbage. If they take more than that, it will be illegal.
