A woman named Rifa Khatun committed suicide in Jhenaidah but before that she strangled her six-year-old son. The incident took place in Bakoshpata village of Maheshpur in Jhenaidah. The deceased Rifa Khatun is the wife of Mamun Hossain of the same village.
In this incident, Morshed Hossain Khan, OC of Maheshpur Police Station, said that Mamun was sleeping with his son on the balcony on Friday night, but when he went to feed the cow at 3 o'clock the next day, he found that his son was not in bed. Later he saw his wife hanging from the window of the house. Later in the morning, when he informed the police, the police recovered two dead bodies.
The deceased's husband said that his wife was mentally ill. He got to know this from his family He said that the deceased Rifa Khatun had tried to kill her son before this.
Police OC Morshed Hossain Khan said, initially it is believed that the mother committed suicide after strangling her son. The matter is being investigated and the bodies of the mother and child have been sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
