To MaguraNidhi: An Awami League worker named Khalilur Rahman (50) had his leg almost severed from his body in an attack by opponents of social factions and dominance in Naghosha village in Shalikha. At least five people were injured in the attack in Naghosha village of Shalikha upazila on Monday morning.
During this time, several houses were vandalized. Tariqul Islam, OC of Shalikha police station, said that the attack was caused by social factions. The injured have been sent to Magura 250 bed hospital. So far 3 people have been arrested. The area is now under police control.
Locals said the residents of Naghosha village are divided into two social groups. One side is led by local Awami League leader Md. Barik Biswas and the other side is led by Awami League leader Ed. Shamchur Rahman. Recently, some groups supported by Barik Biswas broke up and joined the supporters of Ad.Shamchur Rahman. At a point of tension between the two sides, the supporters of Ad.Shamsur Rahman led by Akram, Alam attacked the house of Khalilur Rahman, brother of Barik Biswas, on Monday morning.
At this time, they cut the left leg of A-League worker Khalilur Rahman with a weapon and almost severed it from his body and injured 4-5 others. The attackers also vandalized 2-3 houses. Police arrested 3 people from the spot. The police rescued the injured including Khalilur Rahman and sent them to Magura 250 bed hospital.
Hospital doctor Rezaul Islam said that Khalilur Rahman's leg was initially operated on. However, he had to be sent to Dhaka for better treatment as the entire vein of the left leg was cut and the leg was tied to the skin.
