In the Basurhat market of Companiganj upazila, the police arrested 28 people after one person was killed in the clash and firing on both sides of the Awami League.
On Tuesday (March 09) they were arrested by conducting raids in various places of the upazila. Meanwhile, due to the promulgation of section 144, shops and traffic in Basurhat market have been limited.
On Wednesday morning, Companyganj police station OC Mir Jahedul Haque Roni said that the investigation of the arrested persons is going on. The police could not say anything about the group of people.
However, the police said that legal action will be taken after investigation. The situation is now under police control. Apart from this, the police are on high alert to avoid any untoward incident.
It is to be noted that due to the attack on the Upazila Awami League protest meeting on Tuesday (March 9) afternoon, from 6 pm to 9 pm, the clashes and shootings between Quader Mirza and Badal group took place at different places in Basurhat Bazar municipal premises.
In this incident, at least 15 people from two groups were shot and 30 people were injured.
