Former prime minister and BNP standing committee member Barrister Maudud Ahmed was laid to rest next to the graves of his parents at his home village Manikpur of Companyganj upazila at 6:35 pm on Friday evening after the three rounds of Janazah in Noakhali.
Earlier, at 3:10 pm, the body of Maudud Ahmed reached Kabirhat High School ground by helicopter from Dhaka.
After that, the coffin carrying the body was taken to Kabirhat Government College ground next to it by ambulance.
At this time, his wife Hasna Jasimuddin Maudud, Member of Parliament of Noakhali-4 Constituency Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Vice President of National Executive Committee of BNP Md. Shahjahan, Joint General Secretary Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, District BNP President Golam Haider BSC, General Secretary Advocate Abdur Rahman and Kabirhat Municipality Mayor Zahirul Haque Raihan and others.
The third funeral prayer was held at 3:35 PM. People from all walks of life including thousands of leaders and activists participated in the funeral.
After that, the fourth funeral was held at Basurhat Govt. Mujib College ground of Companiganj upazila at 5 pm. Thousands of people from all walks of life including the Chairman of Companyganj Upazila Parishad Sahab Uddin and the Mayor of Basurhat Municipal Council Abdul Quader Mirza and the leaders of various political parties participated in it.
He was laid to rest next to the grave of his parents at 6:35 after the fifth and last funeral in front of the ancestral mosque of Manikpur village of Char Parvati Union of Companyganj upazila at 6 in the evening.
Barrister Maudud Ahmed was elected Member of Parliament five times from Noakhali-5 Constituency (Kompaniganj-Kabirhat).
He was born on May 24, 1940 in Manikpur village of Companyganj Upazila of Noakhali. His father is Maulana Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed and mother Begum Ambia Khatun.
