To prevent corona infection, the local administration has closed 35 haats including the biggest Lalbagh animal haat in Rangpur. Lalbagh market was on Sunday (04 July). But local administration magistrate, RAB, police went and closed the hut. As a result, many have come back to sell cows. Along with this, the tenants of the hut are also worried.
Lalbagh is the biggest market in Rangpur city. This haat is the main attraction of Eid al-Adha. This market is open two days a week, Sunday and Wednesday. Sacrificial animals are bought and sold here from a month before Eid.
A strict lockdown is going on across the country. There is a danger of increasing the number of people in Pasurhat. Therefore, the local administration has announced the closure of about 35 Pasurhats in the district including Lalbagh, Burirhat in the city.
Abdullahil Kafi, the lessee of Lalbaghat, said that the call for the haat was taken for about two and a half million taka. The biggest source of income for the haat is the sale of sacrificial animals. If the market is closed during this time, they will face loss.
Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan said in the afternoon that it has been decided to close animal market for the time being to prevent corona infection. In light of the decision, all animal markets in the district will remain closed until further notice.
