As a result of the sale of rotten meat of dead cows at Lahirirhat in Rangpur Sadar Upazila, "several buyers have become sick after eating that meat".
Complaints have been raised that due to lack of supervision by local administration, cow butcher Rafiqul Islam Rafiq and his son Jhantu butcher of Ishwarpur Matherhat village of Chandanpat Union of Rangpur Sadar Upazila sold rotten meat in Lahiri market on Monday. Rashedul Islam son of deceased Mahir Uddin and 5/6 members of his family fell ill after buying that meat and cooking it at home on Monday afternoon. Currently Rashedul's condition is alarming.
Not only that, a butcher was caught red-handed for selling dead goat meat in the Palichra market of Sadyapuskarni Union of Sadar Upazila a few days ago, after which the local chairman Sohel Rana and the hut tenant settled the matter internally.
Meanwhile, when the news of the sale of rotting cow meat became known in Lahiri's market, the butcher Rafiqul and his son Jhantu the butcher gave cover. Aggrieved buyers have sought the intervention of law enforcement agencies to take necessary action in this regard.
